How to use your voice when teaching a boxing fitness class.

From my experience as a boxing trainer teaching fighters and Australian amateur boxing champions. Here are 10 teaching coaching cues using your voice, to help you effectively lead and energize a boxing fitness class:

 1. Start Strong with Energy Cue: "Alright, team! Let’s bring the heat today! Gloves up, Energy up!" Let’s GO !! Use a powerful, confident tone with a big smile. Kick off the session with an enthusiastic welcome to set the vibe.

 2. Demonstrate & Encourage Technique Cue: "Jab-cross, snap it out! Focus on good technique and accuracy—imagine you're punching towards your goal!" Speak clearly and slowly when explaining combinations. Use a slightly authoritative tone to emphasize good boxing form but keep it encouraging.

 3. Make it Relatable Cue: "This hook isn’t just a punch—this is you showing life who's boss!". Use an inspiring and conversational tone to connect the workout to real-life empowerment.

4. Highlight Progress Cue: "Awesome work, great combinations”! Your punches have improved from last week. Keep it up!" Great Work... Use a genuine, affirming tone when praising improvement. Call out specific achievements and use the clients name when possible.

5. Add Humour Cue: "If you’re mad about traffic, take it out on the bag—don’t hold back!" Use a playful, light hearted tone to keep the mood fun and relaxed. Humour helps clients stay engaged.

 6. Keep Everyone Engaged Cue: "Keep those punches sharp! I’m watching—no lazy arms here!" LETS GO !. Adopt an energetic tone to gently challenge clients. Make them laugh or smile while staying focused.

7. Build Momentum with Voice Cue: "Let’s pick up the pace! Faster, faster—boom, boom, BOOM!" Raise your voice slightly to match the tempo on the punches as you encourage clients to increase intensity. Let your excitement spread to them.

8. Create a Sense of Teamwork Cue: "Let’s go Team, we’re all in this together—punch like a champion!" Speak inclusively to foster camaraderie. Use "we" and "us" instead of "you" to build a sense of unity and a team.

9. Use Vocal Cues for Rhythm Cue: "One, two, three—jab, cross, hook! Keep that rhythm!" Well done! Match your voice to the rhythm of punching combinations. A consistent cadence helps clients follow along easily.

 10. Finish Strong and Positive Cue: "You crushed it today! Give yourself a round of applause—legends in the making!" “Well Done, Champions”. Use a celebratory and enthusiastic tone to end the boxing for fitness class. This leaves everyone feeling accomplished and motivated.
